Elina
Danielian
(born August 16, 1978
in Baku)
is an Armenian chess grandmaster (since 2010). Elina showed great results in
European chess events: in 2001 she won European Women Rapid Championship, in 2003 she won the gold medal
playing on the first board in European Women Team Championship.On May 2011 she
won the bronze medal in the European Individual Chess Championship in Tbilisi, scoring 8/11
points.
She
was two-times World Champion among girls U-14, U-16 and won a bronze medal
among girls U-20.
In 2009 she won the
silver medal in Women Grand Prix, Istanbul (Turkey) and placed second in Women's Grand Prix in Doha, Qatar
in 2011. In 2003 she was nominated as the Best
Sportswoman of the Year of Armenia and was awarded by the President of Armenia
with State Medal "Movses Khorenatsi" the same year.
Nominated in the
10 best sportsmen of the year and was awarded by the President of Olympic
Committee with Medal for Merit and Contribution in National Sport in 2007.
Included in the list of the most famous Armenian women of the 20th century.
